How do I place a call from my PC to another PC?
When you register for an account, you will receive a telephone number which other Asergis phones users will then use to call you, this is known as a Virtual Telephone Number.

How do I place a call from my PC to a regular phone number?
You can place a call to a regular phone number by simply dialing the number you want to call.

How can I tell if my friend is on-line and I can place a call to her/him?
When your friend is on-line and ready to receive a call the light bulb next to their name glows yellow, if their bulb is red they are already in a call. When they are off-line their light bulb is gray.

Can I use my USB Internet phone to place free calls to UK landlines phone numbers?
Yes, we have calling plans which have unlimited calls to UK or European destinations. With your own Asergis calling plan you can enjoy unlimited calls to many destinations anywhere in the world.

Yes, the implements advanced techniques that enables calls to be placed out through all of the popular Routers and Firewalls.

I have multiple PCs on a local network (LAN) behind a Router and a Firewall, can all of my PCs receive and place calls simultaneously?
Yes you can if you have registered for an phone account which allows multiple accounts, as each PC will need to have an account. All of your PCs can simultaneously place and receive calls through your Router and Firewall. For more information on how to configure your multiple accounts, please call customer service who will be able to advise and help.

My friend is not listed in my Buddy List, how do I add him/her?
For help on adding your friend to your Buddy List, just add the user to your contacts on your softphone software.

Why does the icon for Softphone in the tray change colour?
The icon colour for Softphone will change depending on it's status; Yellow - ready to place and receive calls. Green - you are in a call. Red - your USB Internet phone is not plugged in.

My PC is unable to detect my USB Internet phone, what do I need to do?
Try un-plugging your USB Internet phone, counting to 10 and plugging it back in.
Check the PCs USB socket with another USB device.

Why is my Softphone unable to contact the server?
Check you have Internet access by opening your browser.
The Buddy server is occasionally taken off-line for maintenance.

During installation I am asked for my email address - why?
Your friends will be able to add you to their Buddy Lists by entering your email address. You can use any email address that you want provided that no other user is already using the email address that you entered.

The phone icon for the Softphone in the system tray (by the clock) is yellow and it says "trying to connect", after a few minutes it gives me the message " Asergis Server off line for maintenance".
The Asergis Server is very rarely off-line. If you receive this message and are connected to the Internet please run the diagnostic.

My audio sounds "broken" or "choppy"?
Broken or choppy audio can be caused by either; 1) Internet connection "jitter" (usually present on low bandwidth connections). To change the jitter setting please visit the jitter setting page. Or 2) You have a NetMeeting compatible router and you need to set your Internet connection option to NetMeeting router (if you don't have a router, please see 1).

How do I place a call through a gatekeeper?
To set up an entry in your Buddy List so you can place calls through a gatekeeper please visit the static gateway/gatekeeper page.
